Who we are

We are the little sister organization to NJ Sisterhood, founded in Jersey City in 2014. Seeing a need for a Muslim woman's organization in Tucson, AZ, we created SW Sisterhood to bring together diverse talented female Muslim leaders in the southwestern U.S. in community service, leadership development, and collaborative learning and practice.

The purpose of SW Sisterhood is to collectively empower Muslim women by developing collaborative leadership through community outreach, education, and engagement. The organization strives to create a community where Muslim women can support each other and the wider community, thrive, learn, and grow together through religious practice, reach our full potential, feel belonging and that we are contributing, and living fulfilled lives.

Our amazing multilingual team of volunteers are committed to helping our neighbors. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Think you would be a good fit? Get in touch for more information!

What we do

SW Sisterhood provides Muslimah-led advising, consultation, training, capacity-building, and technical assistance to, for, and by Muslim women, Muslim organizations, and community-based organizations serving Muslim populations.

Food Donations and Career Development

We are seeking volunteers to pack food donations into boxes and deliver them to needy families.

We offer career development workshops and job postings.

Newcomers Support and Community Connection

We connect newly arrived and/or converted women to resources in the local Muslim community and the wider community.

Quienes somos

Somos la “hermana menor” de la organización NJ Sisterhood que se fundó en Jersey City en el año 2014. Al observar la falta de una organización a servicio de las mujeres musulamanas en Tucson, Arizona, creamos SW Sisterhood (La Hermandad del Suroeste) para unir diversas líderes musulanas talentosas en proyectos de servicio comunitario, desarrollo de liderazgo femenil, y aprendizaje colaborativo.

El propósito de la Hermandad del Suroeste es trabajar en conjunto para nuestro propio empoderamiento colectivo como mujeres musulmanas para desarrollar capacidad de liderazco colaborativo mediante el alcance, la educación, y el compromiso comunitario. La organización pretende generar espacios en donde las mujeres musulmanas puedan apoyarse entre si, a la vez brindar apoyo a la comunidad y aprender, crecer, y florecer en conjunto a través de la práctica religiosa, realizarse, sentir el pertenecer y la sensación de aportar, y así vivir plenamente.
